FAQs

How much notice do I need to give when ordering my skip?

All skip hire bookings made before 12 noon are processed for same day delivery wherever possible (if you require). Skip hire bookings made after this time will generally be next-day deliveries – but please feel free to contact us to discuss your requirements.

When and how do I pay for the skip?

You may pay for the skip COD to our driver on delivery of your skip (cash or cheque), or at the time of booking via all major credit/debit cards.

How much will my skip cost?

Our skip hire prices are uniquely tailored to your requirements and are determined by:

  • Skip Size
  • Drop-off and collection location
  • Type of waste you’re putting in the skip

We offer a clear pricing structure with no hidden costs.

I don’t have a driveway, can I still hire a Skip?

Yes, but you must contact your local authority/council to apply for a skip permit or licence to place a skip on a public road or footpath.

Fines & Penalties

You can be fined by the council if you place an unlicensed skip on a public road, cause damage to any public property or if you don’t follow any of the restrictions of your permit. You will also have to move the skip.

We can apply for a skip permit or licence on your behalf at an additional cost.

I don’t have room for a skip – can you help me?

Total Recycling Scotland can offer a wait-and-load waste removal service where we can turn up with a skip or lorry and the driver will wait whilst you load, subject to a maximum loading time. We can also help by providing staff to load this for you – please let us know which service you require when booking with us.

What type of waste can I put in the skip?

You can load the skip with general household waste and builders’ waste such as bricks, rubble, soil etc. Please note 12, 14 and 40 cyd skips cannot be used for soil/rubble.

For all waste types, please contact the office to discuss your requirements and we will talk through the best solution for your particular needs.

What happens to my waste after my skip/wait-and-load collection

All waste collected is segregated for recycling at our own Waste Transfer Station. You can be guaranteed peace of mind that your waste is processed and recycled as efficiently and environmentally-friendly as possible.
